Radlett Neighbourhood Plan

Since 2015, the Society has been assisting the Parish Council with researching and drafting what is hoped will become its first Neighbourhood Plan. This Plan will shape the future of Radlett by taking more control of day -to-day planning and giving guidance of what is appropriate development through the use of ‘planning briefs’.

The details of the proposed plan can be found here – https://www.hertsmere.gov.uk/Planning–Building-Control/Planning-Policy/Radlett-Neighbourhood-Plan.aspx and on the plans dedicated website here https://www.radlettplan.org/

The referendum on the plan was due to take place on the 7th May 2020 at the same time as the local elections.  As due to Covid-19 the local elections have now been delayed to 6th May 2021 (subject to legislative approval) the referendum has also been delayed.  It is not clear yet if there will be a vote on this before the next local elections or if it will need to wait to then.  If we get any updates we will inform you here.

There was a public Hearing to discuss the the plan on Wednesday 16th October – further details can be seen here – and the meeting notice can be seen here – Radlett NP Public Notice 2

Three of members of the RSGBA committee joined this meeting. Rosamund Gray, Mike Stearns and Douglas Pollock.

The speakers allowed were, Viv Charrett, former Chairman APC, Cllr Estelle Samuelson, Alan Cole, Stuart Pole, and Graham Taylor, all three on “Steering Cttee”.

Then, there was Mark Silverman and two others from HBC. The Independent Examiner Nigel McGurk, who was appointed July ‘19 spent three hours checking each Policy against Legal National Policies.
They needed to be deliverable in Intent and Aims.

A small audience drifted in and out but were not allowed to speak.

The Inspectors response and recommendations would be made early this November.
